Mary and Scott's Story
Scott and Mary met in the whirlwind summer of 2020.
Mary joined a dating app at the encouragement of her friends to get back on the market, went on a couple of disastrous dates, and decided it was probably the wrong route in her journey. Many swipes later and ready to throw in the towel, she came across a heavily tattooed, smiley sweet-faced man named “Scott”. From outside appearances, she presumed it would be a bad idea given his adventurous aesthetic. Scott, a seasoned vet in the dating app arena, and at the height of his bachelorism, swiped right (out of habit). Mary started the conversation with “Hola Papi”. And instantly, Scott knew this was going to be interesting.
Scott and Mary spoke for two weeks via phone and text before they met in person. Scott invited Mary to “Antelope Island” for their first date. Scott picked Mary up with his best friend Braden and his girlfriend Wanky. Mary opened the door with her energy drink in hand, wearing camo and Ugg boots naively thinking this was going to be a fun day with new friends.
Then she saw Scott….and Scott saw her, and both knew they were in serious trouble. Love at first sight is not something either believed, but they did after this moment. Scott did not say much on the date, Mary assumed he was just incredibly shy. Scott was in awe of her delightfully strange mannerisms, authentic personality, and beauty. Mary told her life story and nervously blabbered for 4 hours straight. At the end of the night, Mary thought she bombed and would likely never see him again. Little did she know, after she was dropped off, Scott told his friends “I’m going to marry that girl.”
A couple of blissful months went by. Mary knew that it was time for Scott to meet the most important part of Mary’s life and biggest critic. Lilah. If Lilah did not approve of Scott, it was game over. To Mary’s relief, Lilah welcomed Scott into their tiny family and eventually started referring to him as “Big Daddy”.
Two years flew by and Scott and Mary’s love flourished, they became a family and grew as a family. Scott proposed to Mary on a very windy hilltop at the same place they were for their first date exactly 2 years before. In true Scott fashion, he not only convinced her a proposal was years away but pulled it off flawlessly. Now here we are. We love and appreciate each and every one of you who has supported us over the years. We are honored to have you join us and help us celebrate the next chapter.

Punta Islita is located in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica on the Nicoya Peninsula. Punta Islita is situated about halfway up the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific Ocean. Although you can fly into San Jose, the capitol of Costa Rica, we recommend you fly into Liberia since it's closer and you don't have to go up and around the Gulf of Nicoya.
Plan about about 3 hours from the trip from the airport by car. Once you leave Samara, you'll find yourself with some amazing views of the Pacific Ocean, but be careful as well. The last part of your journey will be on dirt roads which at times can be fairly decent and at other times will require some careful driving.
Once you arrive at Punta Islita and immerse yourself in truly breathtaking views, you'll understand why Mary and Scott chose this unique hotel for their wedding. You'll also find the views are matched by amazing cuisine. One of our favorites was the Coconut Lemonade, but Punta Islita's chef also has other amazing dishes you'll want to try. Don't miss the ceviche!
