- All posts are to be positive, i.e.no posts may disparage other vendors, the couple of guests of the couple.
- Be present, participate and be on-site in all activities at the Jewel Grande Montego Bay, Jamaica from May 10-14, 2026

Media Mentorship Program

A portfolio-building experience for photographers, videographers, and content creators ready to enter the destination wedding space
Join me in Jamaica for a destination wedding workshop designed to give you hands-on experience, confidence in travel logistics, and stunning content to elevate your brand. This mentorship is part of a luxury wedding giveaway and includes both virtual and on-site education.
What’s Included:
Two Virtual Prep Calls (Dates TBD)
We’ll cover everything from what gear to pack and how to travel with it, to communicating with clients and planners across time zones. You’ll also learn how to shoot with intention, create strong portfolio content, and navigate the logistics of working internationally.
Hands-On Shooting Experience
You’ll participate in photographing and filming a portrait session of the couple and full wedding day coverage. You will have time both days to direct posing to get the images you want. Raw files will be delivered to me to be delivered to the couple, but you’re free to edit and use your work in your personal portfolio. A model release will be provided.
Four Nights at an All-Inclusive Resort in Jamaica
Lodging and meals are included. You’ll be part of a real wedding weekend, surrounded by tropical beauty and creative collaboration. We will also have plenty of time to soak in the sun and relax. (Note: Flights and airport transfers are not included.)
On-Site Mentorship and Post-Wedding Debrief
Gain live feedback while shooting, then join an in-person review and Q+A after the wedding. We’ll discuss what worked, review your images, and talk through how to share and promote this experience in your own brand.

Russ – International DJ
In my younger days, I played in a band and took great pride in my top-of-the-line sound system. When a coworker asked to borrow it for his sister’s wedding, I hesitated—entrusting my prized equipment to someone else just didn’t feel right. Instead, I offered to DJ the wedding myself, eager to ensure the music would be just right.
That evening turned out to be electric—filled with energy, excitement, and the perfect soundtrack to match every moment. I discovered the thrill of shaping the atmosphere, reading the crowd, and keeping the dance floor alive. The joy of curating the musical journey for such a special occasion was truly exhilarating.
By the end of the night, two guests approached me to DJ their own weddings, and I happily agreed. As word spread, more requests followed, and what began as a favor quickly blossomed into a thriving business. That first wedding didn’t just launch my DJ career—it ignited a lifelong passion for creating unforgettable celebrations through music.
DJ Mentorship Program
Destination DJ + MC Workshop with Russ Powell of Powell Weddings + Events
Join Russ Powell, lead DJ and MC of Powell Weddings + Events, for an immersive destination wedding workshop designed for experienced DJs looking to break into the international wedding market. This hands-on education opportunity is built around a real destination wedding at an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica.
As the lead DJ/MC for the event, Russ will guide up to two DJ participants through the behind-the-scenes prep, logistics, and performance mindset that go into delivering a seamless destination wedding experience.
What’s Included:

These sessions will dive into key skills and logistics including:
• Organizing your client crate and event timeline
• Leading a polished final planning meeting with your couple
• Sourcing gear internationally and understanding what to bring vs. rent
• Navigating customs and airline travel with DJ equipment
• Managing your role within a timeline built around photography, ceremony, and dinner service -
On-Site Experience in Jamaica
• Shadow and assist Russ throughout the wedding day
• Observe how a lead DJ/MC runs the flow of a luxury destination event
• Participate in a possible MC skill workshop to refine mic presence, tone, and pacing
• Gain insight into working collaboratively with photographers, planners, and resort staff -
Post-Event Debrief + Q&A
The morning after the wedding, participants will join Russ for a relaxed Q&A and recap session to talk about what worked, what to improve, and how to apply these skills to their own business.
Please Note:
Participants are responsible for their own flights and ground transportation. Accommodations and meals are included as part of the resort stay. This is a shadowing and educational experience, participants will not be the lead DJ/MC for the event.
